His only companions are a dog and a shotgun – for which ammunition is very scarce. When Max takes an injured man back to an encampment with the promise of fuel, he is offered a deal by their leader, Pappagallo (Mike Preston). In exchange for his vehicle and as much fuel as he can carry, Max must help Pappagello and his people escape their encampment before they are attacked and killed by Humungus (Kjell Nilsson) and his gang of marauders.
