Later, Eddie Dean (Eddie Dean) and fellow cowboys Waco (Lee Bennett) and Soapy (Roscoe Ates) arrive at the ranch to sell Hank some cattle but find the rancher gone. When Hank finally arrives, he tells Eddie that his ranch has been singled out by cattle thieves, and he now stands to lose his contract to sell cattle to the government. Eddie explains that he has been assigned by the cattle association to investigate the thefts. Eddie notices that Waco is Bert’s physical double and suggests that Bert, who is a target of the gunmen, hide out while Waco takes his place at the ranch.
Meanwhile, rancher Ringo Evans plots with his accomplice, Knuckles (Kermit Maynard), to kill Bert, who, he believes, stands between him and the destruction of the Bar L Ranch.
