However, he only has a few months left to live after being diagnosed with advanced stage brain cancer. One day, he decides to withdraw from a film produced by Poornachandra Rao (K. Viswanath), his father-in-law, and instead act in a comedy film produced by himself and hopefully directed by Margadarsi (K. Balachander), his former mentor. Margadarsi initially refuses, though he changes his mind when he realises that his old friend is dying. The film they want to make will be called ‘Uttama Villain’, and they hope to get it completed and shown to an audience before Manoranjan passes away.
