After escaping from a mental hospital, Charles Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) intends to kill his former employee, Chief Inspector Clouseau (Peter Sellers), who’s constant blundering slowly drove him insane. Dreyfus attempts to kill Clouseau with a planted bomb but fails, so instead kidnaps a nuclear physicist, Professor Hugo Fassbender (Richard Vernon), and his daughter, Margo (Briony McRoberts), with the intention of using the Professor to build a deadly weapon that will destroy the world, unless Clouseau is assassinated. It is up to Clouseau to catch Dreyfus and stop his diabolical plan, but he will need to use a series of disguises to get close to him.
