Between shifts, wisecracking surgeons Capt. Benjamin ‘Hawkeye’ Pierce (Donald Sutherland) and Capt. John ‘Trapper John’ McIntyre (Elliott Gould) make it their business to make life a misery for Maj. Frank Burns (Robert Duvall) and Maj. Margaret ‘Hot Lips’ Houlihan (Sally Kellerman). Assisted by Capt. Augustus ‘Duke’ Forrest (Tom Skerritt), Capt. Walter ‘Painless Pole’ Koskiusko (John Schuck) and Cpl. ‘Radar’ O’Reilly (Gary Burghoff), Hawkeye and Trapper John engage in various escapades, such as taking a medical trip to Japan to play golf, staging a mock Last Supper to cure Painless Pole’s erectile dysfunction, and using any means necessary to win a football game.
