A rag-tag circus comes to town and Eddie finds herself bonding with Ava, the show’s performing elephant. Slayton (Timothy Bottoms), the sleazy owner of the circus, learns that he’s deep in debt, and since Ava is insured for a large sum of money, he plots to kill the elephant. Eddie gets wind of Slayton’s plan and runs away with Ava. Along the way, they meet a friendly stranger, Clayton (Georg Stanford Brown), who knows all about Slayton and his business.
