Quitting his job, he begins the long drive to the Big Apple, picking up hitchhiker Perry Denklin (Diana Lynn) along the way, who is also looking for a better life in New York. Sadly things do not work out for either of them, and when Eddie finds Perry working in a Coney Island ‘adult’ show, he refuses to let her carry on. They both eventually find happiness together, buying a ranch back in Texas.
